  • Why We Love Livonia

  • Millennials are discovering what’s great about living in a complete community like Livonia.

Livonia is Michigan’s No. 1 and the country’s No. 2 real estate market for Millennials, according to a 2017 report by Realtor.com, which indicated one-third of Livonia’s new home buyers are Millennials. The real estate website praised the city’s extraordinary parks and recreation offerings and central location which provides convenient access to the region’s employers and exciting venues in Detroit. Other independent analysts rated Livonia among the nation’s Top-10 Happiest Mid-Size Cities in 2016, and among nation’s Top-100 communities to raise a family.

With a population of more than 95,000 residents, Livonia is Michigan’s ninth-largest city, nestled in a convenient central location in the metro Detroit region. Aided by two major freeways, a drive from a Livonia home or hotel is less than 30 minutes from Metro Airport, the Detroit Zoo in southern Oakland County, the entertainment spots in downtown Detroit, and the culture of Ann Arbor.

For business, Livonia is in the middle of western Wayne County’s logistics hub with a collection of office, industrial, research, and manufacturing operations that are closely surrounded by the headquarters of the Detroit 3” automobile manufacturers, downtown Detroit’s major companies, two of Michigan’s great research universities and several community colleges, North America’s busiest international border crossing, and a major airport. A national analyst in 2017 rated Livonia as the No. 2 place in Michigan to start a business.

With nearly 1,400 acres of parks and nature areas, Livonia offers plenty of public green space, and there are several recreational facilities in town such as the Jack E. Kirksey Recreation Center, Livonia Family YMCA, several swim clubs, three golf courses, and St. Joe’s Sports Dome at Schoolcraft College.

For young families, Livonia is home to several of the state’s largest youth sports organizations for hockey, soccer, football, and other sports. The city is also known for its family-friendly traits and quality education at all levels. It is also home to the Livonia Spree, a summer festival that attracts more than 100,000 people in a communitywide celebration capped off by one of metro Detroit’s largest fireworks displays.

For nightlife, Livonia is home to numerous newly renovated family-run bars and restaurants that provide fun venues to watch sporting events or catch live bands.

Livonia is a place to live, learn, work and play that is within a convenient drive to most of metro Detroit’s destinations. Livonia has big-city convenience and small-town closeness that provide a distinctive community spirit. We hope you enjoy the opportunity to explore our community and what it has to offer.
