    Job Summary

    Under general direction of the Workforce Programs Manager, the Workforce Associate Project Manager provides assistance to employers seeking training opportunities for their existing and new (to be hired) employees. This position provides assistance to employers in navigating program perimeters, including the application process, eligibility, contracting, invoicing, monitoring, retention, and outcomes reporting.Please apply at https://semcajobs.appone.com

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Serves as primary point of contact and acts as agency “expert” in assigned business services initiatives and program areas
    • Assists in the identification and selection of employers to receive services from SEMCA MichiganWorks! with specific focus on the Going PRO Talent Fund (GPTF)
    • Develops and maintains working knowledge of all relevant state, federal, and local legislation and policies
    • Enhances outreach in collaboration with the Workforce Program Manager and Communications staff to identify opportunities to expand programs in the local area
    • Interacts with business services staff, local companies, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and other partners to facilitate employee training applications
    • Assesses and coordinates types of appropriate training with employers and providers
    • Works with selected companies to develop applications and training plans to enhance skills of existing workforce and new employees
    • Develops and executes contracts with selected companies
    • Monitors and tracks training progress
    • Coordinates the placement of SEMCA clients into entry-level positions vacated by retrained current employees who move to higher-level positions
    • Participates in program planning as requested
    • Compiles and develops management reports
    • Assists in development of plans, request for proposals (RFPs), and workforce service contracts as requested
    • Completes all required data entry in customer relations management (CRM) system
    • Provides support and GPTF technical assistance to SEMCA area employers
    • Other duties as assigned


    All SEMCA team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous development of their skills. The following skills, knowledge and education or certifications are specifically required for this position:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or other related field
    • Demonstrated project management experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form
    • Strong customer service aptitude
    • Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task responsibilities
    • Ability to collect, compile, and analyze data, and produce resulting reports
    • Proficiency in utilizing CRM systems
    • Ability to represent SEMCA in employer engagement activities

    Desired Skills

    • Three (3) years’ experience in workforce development programs
    • Five (5) years’ experience in business-to-business (BTB) marketing and/or sales
    • Experience with Salesforce CRM
    • Ability to execute projects independently
    • Knowledge of the SEMCA regional business community

    Physical Demands

    Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials on an LCD screen and smartphone, hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the telephone.     Compensation and Benefits

    Annual salary range is $50,000- $60,000 with competitive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid holidays, paid time off.
