    Job Description
    We have an exciting opportunity as MANUFACTURING ENGINEER for our prototype facility in Livonia.    
    Job Summary: 
    Responsible for the technical and effective success of process and quality planning in order to mitigate risk through all aspects of the manufacturing process.  The ME is an integral part of the APQP process and works with the cross-functional team to assure compliance to customer expectations through robust process planning and execution.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
    • Supports Cost Estimating and Program Management during quoting to determine project feasibility and develop a successful manufacturing strategy.
    • Works with Program Management at program launch to ensure that the supplied customer designs are compatible with QMC-EMI manufacturing processes.
    • Reviews all customer supplied GD&T to identify key characteristics for a part or assembly.  Ensures that key characteristics are communicated to the operators clearly on the process plan and establishes in process checks which ensure product compliance.
    • Participates in the APQP process to develop a robust quality plan for every part which supports all customer requirements and expectations.
    • Works with the vendors to develop a robust assembly fixture plan which will be compatible with QMC-EMI equipment and processes and which will support a repeatable assembly process and yield a quality part.
    • Develop and keep up to date all assembly build documentation.
    • Provides support to manufacturing during product launch and throughout production.
    • Addresses manufacturing issues in a timely and effective manner and communicates any resulting delays in the project timeline with management.
    • Ensures that the change management process is followed for any changes to the process plan for every part including making sure that all appropriate documentation is updated both electronically and physically.
    • Assist in the resolution of both internal and external quality concerns.
    • Assist in interpreting dimensional results and working with quality and operations to drive to an improvement plan.
    • Works with cross-functional team members to identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and provide support for the implementation and sustaining of improvement activity.
    • Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall company metrics.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education / Licenses / Work Experience Requirements: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience required
    • 3 years previous work experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment preferred.
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work with little to no supervision
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to multitask
    • Attention to detail
