    Job Description
    This position works within the Financial Management Services of The Arc of Northwest Wayne County, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible. The Payroll Clerk reports directly to the Executive Director and works in cooperation with other Financial Management Staff. This is a full time, 40 hours/week salaried position. (updated May 2022)
    - Direct Support Professionals’ timesheet processing
    ?- Processes timesheets from direct support professionals (DSPs) checking for accuracy, entering times into the computer system
    - Works with the Intake Specialist to provide orientation for new and transferring DSPs
    Electronic Visit Verification system training and maintenance 
    - Oversees use of the electronic visit verification (EVV) system, entering timesheets, keeping accurate information on employers and employees, and entering data
    - Educates all DSPs on the EVV system, proactively provides essential information to DSPs and their employers, answers questions, communicates with EVV tech staff for troubleshooting
    - Follows up with DSPs and employers to ensure accurate, timely submission of documentation
    Payroll Preparation 
    - Using QuickBooks, accurately prepares payroll for DSPs 
    - Enters new employees into appropriate systems for payroll
    - Submits regular and additional payrolls to CPA for processing
    - Oversees distribution of payroll through direct deposit or paper checks 
    - Assists with quarterly payroll audits 
     Other Duties 
    - Creates and provides monthly service utilization reports to community mental health agency
    - Assists with Arc NW Financial Management Services where needed including filing, organizing, and training DSPs -  Attends appropriate trainings, workshops, and conferences to obtain information that will expand skills and knowledge base 
    - Cross trains with other positions in The Arc NW Financial Management Services
    - Performs all other tasks as assigned

    - Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor under stress and in conflict situations
    Required Education and Experience 
    - A minimum of a high school diploma required, some college and/or related work experience preferred
    - Experience preparing payroll required 
    - Experience with computer apps for employee payroll required
    - Computer skills, database experience, and an ability to acquire skills with new software required
    - Experience with QuickBooks required
    - Experience with Medicaid Claims helpful
