I-275 Industrial Council

This unique team of education, business, and policy leaders from communities along the I-275 corridor collaborates to pursue solutions to workforce and economic issues that support the region’s growth. It originated as the Livonia Industrial Council, which was created by the Livonia Chamber in 2011 to support the city’s manufacturing industry and its pursuit of skilled talent.

The I-275 Industrial Council formed in 2015 in partnership with the Livonia, Plymouth, Canton Westland, Wayne, and Redford communities to advance the region’s industries with programs to boost career interest in the skilled and technical trades, engineering, and research and development. These types of jobs are in the highest demand across southeastern Michigan, and the Council meets to develop local solutions to grow the much-needed skilled and technical workforce, and grow the region’s economy.

The Council meets four times a year at Schoolcraft College. The meetings are designed to provide companies with productive interactions with educators, best practices and resources to support their companies, and innovative efforts to develop and grow the talent pipeline for employers across the region. The group also supports policy makers who are pursing similar workforce development objectives.
