Transportation

Among cities in southeastern Michigan, Livonia has the best main freeways serving the entire region, including I-275 to the highwaynorth and south and I-96 to the east and west, which serve both I-94 and M- 14. Livonia gets its reputation as a well-planned city partly because all of its main surface streets were originally designed for five-lane access. These roads include Five, Six, Seven, and Eight Mile roads, and Inkster, Middlebelt, Farmington, Newburgh, Schoolcraft, Plymouth and Joy Roads. Because Livonia was designed for growth, we've been able to avoid the frustrating traffic gridlock other cities now face. Livonia is a mere 20 to 30 minutes from Michigan's largest municipal airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and our businesses enjoy their proximity to the many rail lines throughout this region.

Major Highways: I-96, I-275, M-14, M-102
Rail: CSX Railroad
Air: 20-30 Minutes from Metro Airport and Willow Run Airport

Eighteen major roads and eleven expressway interchanges provide excellent access to all surface, rail, air, and water transportation services in the region.
