Abundant recreational opportunities contribute greatly to Livonia's premier quality of life for families and individuals. The city has set aside 1,800 acres for recreation and has a brand new 130,000 square foot community recreation center, along with many other recreational venues.

Built as a testament to Livonia�s strong commitment to families and fun and envisioned as a catalyst for the growth of community, the Livonia Community Recreation Center offers recreational activities for residents of all ages, all fitness levels, and to all who want to recreate in a lively and inviting environment.
Built in 2003 from a $30 million dollar bond issue, the center creates an affordable recreational facility for residents.

The center includes two indoor pools with a 250 foot water slide, 27,000rec center square feet of gymnasium, a fitness hub with training equipment, an indoor track, a 40 feet high by 36 feet wide climbing wall, aerobics room, party rooms, game room, giant indoor play structure, 14,000 square feet skate board park, two sand volleyball courts and an 8,600 square feet gymnastics area. There is something for everyone in the family at the Livonia Community Recreation Center.

Golf Courses
golfYou�ll have an excellent chance to test your golfing skills in Livonia, with three quality 18-hole courses to choose from. All courses are open seven days a week, April 1 - November 15, weather permitting. Resident and non-resident rates are applied throughout the season. Special rates for senior citizens and youth are available for Livonia residents only. Livonia-based businesses are entitled to �pass cards� which will allow them to golf at any one of the three city-owned courses for resident rates. All courses are open in the winter for cross-country skiing, as conditions permit.

Parks
Livonia takes great pride in the 1,342 acres of parkland throughout the city. Parks in Livonia are spacious and provide wonderful opportunities for picnics, large family gatherings or group functions. For groups over 20, the city suggests you obtain a permit to ensure the space is available. Picnic packs with volleyball nets and balls, horseshoes and bats and balls are also available for a $15 rental fee. For more information call the Parks and Recreation Department at 734-466-2410.

At the western edge of Livonia sits Newburgh Lake, a beautifully picturesque lake and park. The historic comfort station offers a paddleboat concession andhines park fishing docks during the summer. In the winter, the lake is swept for ice-skating and ice fishing. Newburgh Pointe is a beautiful area with two finger piers for fishing and a small boat launch. You can stroll around the lake on a hiking trail or ride your bike on the Hines Park Bike Path that crosses the site and connects to the I-275 bike trail.
