Chamber Member Benefits
The Livonia Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit advocacy organization that supported Livonia businesses and the community at-large since 1950. Among its many services, the Chamber provides marketing guidance, referrals, credibility, and advocacy to more than 800 members in and around Livonia. This makes the Livonia Chamber of Commerce one of the largest community-based chambers in Michigan.
Referrals Voice Credibility
Marketing List: All members are entitled to a free mailing list of all of our Chamber members by request. This list can be e-mailed anytime,and labels can be printed for you once a year. The only thing not included in our marketing list is the email addresses of our members. (There are email promotion opportunities in our Business Promotion package.)
New Member Announcement: When first joining the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, new members are announced in the e-newsletter, print newsletter and on our Facebook page.
Plaque and Membership Decal: Some people see the membership plaque and decal as a stamp of approval. Other people see them as meaning you’re one of the “good businesses in town” or a leading business in the community. No matter what people believe, they always have a sense of reassurance and confidence when they see your business belongs to the local Chamber of Commerce.
Following the original mission of chambers, the Livonia Chamber of Commerce works to protect the interests of the business community in and around Livonia.
Mission Statement: To enhance the success of our membership and the Livonia business environment by providing leadership to meet the need for a growing economy and a supportive government.
Forums with Public Leaders: The Chamber gives members a chance to interact with policy makers through its Government Affairs Committee. The Committee conducts traditional and online video forums so the Livonia business community can learn about candidates running for office.
Public Discussion on Local Business Issues: In recent years, the Livonia Chamber of Commerce has worked with policy makers, educators, and leaders of industry to develop strategies to enhance community marketing, address business concerns with workforce development, taxation, and signage, and provide productive guidance on dealing with local bureaucracies. Chamber members are regularly informed through the Chamber’s online resources, which make you aware of new businesses, expansions, road projects, and other changes in policies that impact the local business community.
The Chamber uses a number of economic development and promotional tools to continually work to improve the quality of life in our community to ensure Livonia remains a vibrant economic entity.
MAKING THE RIGHT FIRST IMPRESSION
Grand Openings: The Chamber coordinates and schedules Grand Openings for new businesses moving into Livonia, and Grand Re-openings after renovations, expansions, and/or relocation. The Chamber staff, ambassadors, and the Mayor of Livonia help celebrate the accomplishment of opening your own business.
Community Welcome Center: The Chamber has created a Livonia Welcome Center that is the place for new residents, visitors and members of the community to get information on the city and local businesses. For those new or visiting our community, the Welcome Center provides a warm, friendly face in Livonia to help them become acquainted with our wonderful city. As an extension of the Welcome Center activities, Chamber staff, also handle thousands of requests each year from people needing information on our city or referrals to businesses in the area.
Chamber Website: Portal to Our Community: Livonia.org is the first glimpse many potential new residents, new businesses, visitors and others see of Livonia. Through the Chamber’s website we provide valuable information in an entertaining manner that gives the best first impression possible of our community. Livonia.org is one of the Chamber’s primary economic development tools for Livonia.
Community Partner: To support the mission of developing a strong community, the Chamber works as a partner with public leaders and other community organizations to promote the community and plan for a healthy future. The Chamber has many different opportunities for you to get involved in these efforts: Livonia College Network, Livonia Industrial Council, Livonia Community Marketing Consortium. To become more involved in the business community, ask about one of these committees, join the Ambassadors, or one of our peer groups.
Through membership, there are many fantastic promotional opportunities to get your company in front of potential customers.
Livonia Chamber of Commerce Website (www.livonia.org):Visitors to the Chamber of Commerce website can search for companies by name or business category to look for goods and services. All of our members are searchable by name and category. Enhance your listing with your logo, coupon, description, and Facebook url. This is a great interactive tool for our members and for those who want to do business in Livonia.
Membership Directory:Members are listed both alphabetically and by business category in the Chamber’s Business Directory and Area Profile. Aside from the 825 Chamber members who receive the guide, more than 4,500 copies are printed and distributed through the Chamber’s Welcome Center, new resident bags, events, and members distribution.
Member-to-Member Benefits:These include special offers members make to fellow members. By adding an offer to the new members when they join the Chamber and can also be distributed upon request.
Business Referrals: The Chamber of Commerce gives hundreds of business referrals each year from phone calls, online requests, and people coming to the Chamber Welcome Center. Many people contact the Chamber for referrals because they feel the best companies in the community are members.
New Resident Welcome Kits: Since new residents are heavy purchasers of goods and services when first moving, the Chamber makes a special effort to encourage them to use member companies. Each month the Chamber mails a postcard to new homeowners providing them the opportunity to pick up a welcome kit from the Chamber filled with promotional material, advertisements and coupons provided by member firms, along with maps and directories.
New Member Welcome Kits: When welcoming new Chamber members, we distribute a package of promotional material from member firms, along with their plaque & decal. This is a great way to encourage fellow members to use your products and services.
Display Marketing Materials in the Welcome Center: The Chamber’s Welcome Center is filled with promotional material from member firms which is picked up by members, visitors and residents.

MONTHLY NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES:
To fit into your busy schedule throughout the year, the Livonia Chamber of Commerce offers you convenient networking opportunities during breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Chamber hosts 25+ events every year.
Breakfasts: Wake-Up Livonia is a lively, fast paced breakfast series that combines networking with a breakfast featuring an interesting business speaker or a tour of a local business. These events take place from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. or 8:00 - 9:30 a.m.
Luncheons: We offer different types of luncheons, such as Info/Techno Luncheons (include topics such as online social networking and cross marketing); Blind Networking Luncheons (you roll dice to determine where you will sit and who you will eat with); Twisted Blind Networking (a mash-up of our previous morning network and Blind Networking Lunch; and our newest Crisscross Networking Lunch!
Five O'clock Connections: These events are hosted from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. We often combine this event with other local Chambers, expanding your networking opportunities, and ensuring you meet plenty of new business contacts.
SIGNATURE ANNUAL EVENTS:
Livonia Business Expo: May
This is Livonia 's largest and most popular business event each year with 1,000 - 1,500 attendees and 100+ exhibitors. In addition to the trade show, there is the Tastefully Livonia that features many favorite local restaurants and a Breakfast Business Roundtable.
Livonia Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing: July
Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy a round of golf on one of the City of Livonia's finest golf courses, fun golf-themed games on every hole, networking with fellow Chamber Members and Livonia business and community leaders. For companies looking to showcase their business, many sponsorship opportunities are available.
Leadership & Awards Celebration: January
A dinner is held to present awards to Best Small and Large Business, Ambassador of the Year, Outstanding Youth, and the First Citizen in the community. Clarenceville Public School District and Livonia Public Schools also award their Teachers of the Year at this event, which typically has 200-300 people in attendance.
State of the City: March
A luncheon where the Mayor of Livonia reviews the past year, and future plans for the city of Livonia. In the past 450-550 attendees were present.
Home Improvement Show: March
This trade show features a collection of carpenters, electricians, concrete specialists, roofers, landscape designers and other home improvement experts.
Wine Tasting: June
Enjoy an unique business netwokring experience with variety of ines at one of Livonia's top restaurants. Have an opportunity to try a selection of red and white wines, while mingling with local business members.
Spree BBQ: June
Bring the whole family out to this BBQ hosted before the famous Spree Fireworks on the final night of Livonia's birthday celebration.
Membership Reception: November
This is one of the largest attended yearly events, where we honor all members - longstanding and new! This event is free to all members.
The Livonia Chamber of Commerce has been very fortunate to host speakers, such as Bill Ford, Jr., Mike Babcock and Ken Holland with the Detroit Red Wings, Governor Rick Snyder, Presidential Candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
