Shopping and Dining
Shopping and dining options continue to grow with a number of new developments popping up across Livonia in 2011 and several others planned for 2012.
Livonia is home to many dining options, which feature several long-standing, family-run operations such as the Livonia Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 Small Business of the Year, Primo’s Pizza, and the 2010 winner, Senate Coney Island. These restaurants compliment the collection of fine-dining establishments along Haggerty Road between Five Mile and Eight Mile roads, including Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Bravo!, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Champps Americana and Andiamo.
Livonia’s three regional shopping centers continue to make news. Livonia Marketplace (former Livonia Mall site) is adding another major tenant with the construction of a new Kohl’s department store, which is slated to open in March 2012. In the fall 2011, Laurel Park Place Mall, in the Six Mile-Newburgh area, was in line to be 100 percent occupied with upcoming additions. Around these shopping centers and Wonderland Village, which underwent an overhaul five years ago in the Middlebelt-Plymouth area, several smaller investments are enhancing store fronts at neighboring properties that have attracted new tenants and consumer options.
